I am working on a new full-length that is partially inspired by my Polish heritage. There is a small village in the south of Poland or Lesser Poland called Zalipie. The village has this beautiful tradition of painting houses with decorative, colorful flowers. This tradition began in the late 1800s. It was originally done to cover up the soot stains from the wood fire stoves. My play builds on this idea of “covering stains” and how we pass on familial trauma.
